Will my WestESIM work on cruise ships or at sea?

Updated April 22, 2026

Your WestESIM will provide excellent connectivity when your cruise ship is docked at a port, allowing you to connect to local land-based networks. However, while the ship is sailing on the open sea, WestESIM service will not be available. This is because standard eSIMs rely on terrestrial cellular towers, not satellite connections used by cruise ship Wi-Fi. For critical communications or streaming, plan to use your WestESIM when exploring coastal towns in Mexico or island nations in the Caribbean.
